Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi visits China stand at Myanmar education expo
The Myanmar Education Expo, the country’s most influential high-level educational event, was held in the capital city Naypyidaw from Dec. 4 to 6, 2018.
Designed to help advance educational reform and innovation in Myanmar, the expo showcased the country’s most advanced and cutting-edge educational equipment and achievements.
Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi attended the opening ceremony.
During the expo, the Myanmar Education Ministry specially erected a stand at the basic education section to showcase exhibits presented by the China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) under its “China Science and Technology Museum on the Move” program.
Accompanied by Myanmar Minister of Education Myo Thein Gyi, Aung San Suu Kyi got first-hand experience of many exhibits at the stand.
“The exhibits not only convey the principles underlying basic education, but also give students a more direct sense of science, providing a new perspective for Myanmar to develop our basic education,” said Aung San Suu Kyi.
During the expo, the stand received over 3,000 government officials and teachers from across Myanmar, who all spoke highly of its exhibits.
The CSTM program, initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology, is intended to promote public science literacy in China and it started to go beyond China this June with Myanmar being the first stop.
The itinerant exhibitions launched under the program in Myanmar, featuring the Hands-on Inquiry Based Learning concept, various exhibits and an interactive experience, have received a warm reception among the public as well as a great deal of attention and wide recognition from the country’s educational authorities and the entire education sector.
