The 10th FEIAP Exco Meeting is held in Singapore from Nov. 12 to 15, 2018.
Huang Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the 9th China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) National Committee, executive vice president of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) and vice president of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) attended the 36th Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations and the 10th FEIAP Exco Meeting as a delegate of CAST in Singapore from Nov. 12 to 15, 2018.
Over 40 delegates from countries and regions including China, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines attended the 10th FEIAP Exco Meeting.
The meeting first reviewed the major resolutions made at the 9th FEIAP Exco Meeting and the 26th FEIAP General Assembly.
The delegate from NPU gave a report to FEIAP’s Permanent Secretariat and other delegates on the tentative programs of the 27th FEIAP General Assembly 2019 and the 5th FEIAP Convention, which is planned to take place in Xi’an from June 28 to 30 next year.
The meeting also approved membership applications from new economies and reviewed reports by FEIAP’s standing committees for engineering education, information technology and environmental engineering respectively.
It was also decided at the meeting that FEIAP will launch its NPU-FEIAP “Belt and Road” Engineering Education Training Center at NPU and start training programs on engineering education evaluation in the near future.
Member economies including China, Singapore and Myanmar will send experts who are well-versed in a certain foreign language and FEIAP’s standards on engineering education accreditation to take up training and promotion jobs at the NPU-FEIAP center. The first round of training is scheduled to kick off in mid-December at NPU.
It was also decided at the meeting that the 11th FEIAP Exco Meeting 2019 will be organized by Engineers Australia.
FEIAP is one of the important international organizations with CAST as its member on behalf of China engineering community. Huang Wei, representative of CAST, will officially assume FEIAP presidency at the 10th FEIAP General Assembly in June 2019.
